      COMET AND NOVA SECTION

Announcement # 6.   February 26, 1963

           _N_O_V_A_

      A naked eye nova was discovered
about 5 degrees N W of Vega, between
Lyra and Hercules.  Coordinates are
(for epoch 1960):

      R.A. 18h 13m, Dec. +41°50'

      Magnitude was 4.1 on Feb 9, and
was estimated by the undersigned at 5.3
on Feb 23.  The nova is best placed in
the morning sky, and it is circumpolar
for observers north of latitude 48°N.
