      I beg to acknowledge your favor of the 9th inst. informing me of my election as Corresponding member of your society.

      With reference to the matter of printing anything of a personal character concerning myself, I see no necessity or special deadline for this. The observations I have made are presumably well known, since they have all been printed in the standard periodicals. These things were made the subject of an article in the Century magazine for, I think, June 1889.
