Asteroid (21361) CarsonMark

Jordan Carson Mark was born on 1913-07-06 in Lindsay, Ontario. He did his undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics at the University of Western Ontario in 1935 and received a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Toronto in 1938. Then he taught mathematics at the University of Manitoba from 1938 until 1943, and spent two years at the Montreal laboratory of the National Research Council of Canada before going to Los Alamos National Laboratory in May 1945 as part of the Manhattan Project. He stayed on as a physicist and administrator at Los Alamos and as an advisor on the safety of nuclear reactors. Although he retired in 1973, he continued to contribute to his field. He passed away on 1997-03-02 in Los Alamos, New Mexico. (Name suggested and citation prepared by Robert Jedicke and Peter Jedicke.)
