Photographers Yousuf Karsh (1908–2002) and Malak Karsh (1915–2001) were brothers of Armenian heritage, who found refuge in Canada at ages 15 and 22 respectively. Yousuf apprenticed with his uncle, George Nakash. A 1941 photograph of Winston Churchill established Yousuf as the greatest portraitist of the 20th century, while Malak is renowned for his landscapes.
