Since joining Kitchener-Waterloo Centre in 1999, I have enjoyed being involved in providing persons of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to view the wonders of the night sky. Through my association with KW Centre council, I have acquired a good understanding of Centre governance, and by joining the National Council, representing the members of KW Centre and being part of the establishment of the new governance model, the policies regarding green-laser pointer issues and numerous other concerns. During my tenure as National Council Representative, I have come to enjoy the deliberations of the Council and the friendships developed. Furthermore, because of attendance at council meetings and several general meetings, I am confident that I can continue to represent the members of RASC during this time of transition under our new governance model. As the most widely recognized astronomy group in Canada, RASC must continue to lead by example. It would give me great pleasure to be part of this transition into the new era of organized astronomy in Canada.
