Halloween Virtual Star Party

Are you ready to be bewitched? Join us for spellbinding stargazing at our Halloween Virtual Star Party! For the first time since 1944, a full Moon will light the Halloween sky. Admire this rare Halloween Blue Moon and the stars around it, discover some of the scariest places in the universe—from black holes to the Tarantula Nebula—and ask us your deep-space questions. Plus, hear from ecologist Cylita Guy, PhD, about a nocturnal animal often associated with Halloween: the bat!

Spooky Night 2020 - Space-themed Zoom Halloween

RASC Montreal Centre and JAC Space Club

Calling all aliens, goblins & costumed characters...whether you're young or young-at-heart, join us to celebrate a Space-themed Halloween by Zoom with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Montreal Centre and the John Abbott College (JAC) Space Club. Fun-filled activities with multi-media, a Kahoot! quiz, story-telling and crafts using mini-marshmallows and toothpicks (or raw spaghetti) will inspire kids of all ages, and space-themed costumes can be displayed on Zoom!

Mars through the eyes of the RASC: The visual evidence from past oppositions.

RASC History Committee

This session will introduce the surviving images recording views of Mars by Society members at past oppositions. The material circumstances of the images (astronomical media and instruments used), and the non-observational factors possibly influencing what was seen at the eyepiece will be discussed. What can a considered perspective on past visions of the red planet teach us about our own observations at this opposition?

Join us for our monthly recreational astronomy night meeting. This is where RASC Toronto Centre members get to show their latest projects or give tutorials and tips on just about everything to do with astronomy. Talks start at 7:30pm, socializing at 7:00pm.
