Emma July 23 2022
Went out star gazing for the first time since Covid started , Saturday July 23, at Melanie's house on Garland Road.
Left my telescope and equipment home, too hot to carry and drag it around, especially that we had to walk about 150 feet to the site.
No way ...
So. brought my binocs and star charts. Skies were murky because of the heat, south skies had Moncton glow, so could not see any objects in that area.
Mosquitoes were starving. had not seen people in over 2 years. I think I lost 5 pounds. and slapped myself numerous times.
After seeing the Starlink chain go by, ISS, and a great meteor, helping a newbie with details on her new telescope, I decided to go home just before midnight. When I got to the stop sign at the end of Garland, it was so dark, I could not see the road. Checked, saw no car lights so turned right.
All of a sudden, a half ton truck came zipping along, and was blinding me with the headlights. I was driving slow as the bushes are on the edge of the road, and twisty turny plus hills, I was extra careful. The idiot could not pass me, so I turned into a driveway so I could get rid of him...Thankfully, he turned left at the end of Victoria Road, and I went right. Was happy to get home... No fun being scared in the middle of the night...
Next time, will wait for someone to leave at the same time...
