I’ve been doing astronomy for the past 30+ years, and recently found an interest in astronomy history and ancient instruments. I have made working replicas of astrolabes, quadrants, merkhets, etc.
Previously, I have had an interest for astronomical catalogues of deep-sky objects and their history. This brought me to “rediscover” the original Berkeley open cluster catalogue, that authors Archinal and Hynes had not found when compiling their excellent book, Star Clusters (2003). I sent them a copy of the Berkeley catalogue, and my “rediscovery” was mentioned in Sky & Telescope in 2011.

RASC NB Centre GA
Hi Pierre;
My name is Adrien Bordage. I am 2nd V.P. of the RASC NB Centre and Chair of the RASC Nb StarParty/Events Committee.
I am writing you to ask if you would consider being one of our guest speakers at our upcoming Annual Meeting in Moncton N.B. on Saturday November 05/2016. The Annual meeting will be held at the new Moncton High School http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-E/schools/monctonhigh/Pages/default.aspx in their theatre style audio/visual presentation room (seating capacity is about 300 and it has complete audio/visual capabilities). The audience will be about 70/30 percent anglophone and francophone respectively so a presentation in English would be preferred. We will apply for Airfare funding assistance through RASC National if you decide to come, and we would provide you with transportation to and from the Airport as well as one night stay at a local hotel (or up to two nights stay at a local RASC NB members home in the Moncton area) and meals for the day of the transportation. If you decide to drive to the Moncton area we would reimburse for gasoline expenses. We would provide you with lunch and dinner meals for the day of the presentation (please let us know if you have any food allergies or food preferences).
Please let me know as soon as possible your answer. Hope to talk to you soon.
Care. Adrien Bordage
