Popular Slovak ice-hockey player Pavol Demitra (1974–2011) spent 16 seasons in the National Hockey League. His most successful season was with St. Louis, being awarded the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2000. A three-time Olympian, he was named to the All-Star Team in 2010. Name suggested by S. Kürti.

Gordon A. H. Walker (b. 1936), profesor emeritus at the University of British Columbia, was a member of the first group to report on the detection of extrasolar planets.

Named in honor of William F. Bottke, Jr., known for his research on the collisional and dynamical evolution of minor planets. He has also contributed to the study of the origin and evolution of NEAs, in particular by analyzing the formation of doublet craters found on the terrestrial planets.

Dr. Bottke was elected an honorary member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada on 2012-06-29.

Georges-Achille van Biesbroeck (January 21, 1880 – February 23, 1974) was a Belgian-American astronomer. He worked at observatories in Belgium, Germany and the United States. He specialized in the observation of double stars, asteroids and comets. He is notable for his long career as an observational astronomer.

Discovered by the Indiana Asteroid Program, Goethe Link Observatory, University of Indiana. This program was conceived and directed by F. K. Edmondson; the plates were blinked and measured astrometrically by B. Potter and, following her retirement, by D. Owings; and the photometry was performed under the direction of T. Gehrels. During the years 1947-1967, in which the plates were exposed, a large number of people participated in various aspects of the program.

It was discovered by Grigory Nikolaevich Neujmin on September 21, 1928 at Simeïs. It was named after Harlow Shapley, the American astronomer and director of Harvard Observatory.

Frank Schlesinger (May 11, 1871 New York City – July 10, 1943 Old Lyme, Connecticut) was an American astronomer. His work concentrated on using photographic plates rather than direct visual studies for astronomical research.
