      Although the total for 1963 may not yet be complete, there were more searches
for Comets and Novae last year than in 1962. Mr. Maclean of the Niagara Falls
Centre was our most active observer again this year, with Mr. Rippen of the Montreal
Centre a close second. Together these two observers made over one third of all

Comet and nova Search Areas:  Part I.  From Declination 0° to 90°N.
       The number on the circumference are hours of Right Ascension,
and each small dash represents 20 minutes of time.  Small numbers
along the 00h and 12h lines are degrees of declination.  The purpose
of this chart is to enable the observer to find the range of his
area in Right Ascension and Declination.  The observer should make
