An Orbiting Lunar Station: The Gateway to Mars and Beyond

The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Montreal Centre and Space Concordia invite you to join us for an informative Public Zoom Presentation about the planned Orbital Lunar Gateway and Canada's role in this project. As humans look to return to the Moon and venture to Mars, the current focus is on developing the new technology and skills needed for operations in deep space. Astronauts on these future missions would find themselves cut off from supply lines and communication with Earth for years on end.

Dr. Jamil Shariff, Astrophysicist and Member of the Technical Staff at MDA will discuss the upcoming Lunar Gateway project: a space station orbiting the Moon where these new space-based capacities will be developed. He will explain how advanced Canadian robotics, including the Canadarm3, will be critical to this endeavour. An informative poster and a clickable pdf are attached for those that wish to share this invitation with other space enthusiasts!
