  8. notes: the instrument this is patterned on is not Newton’s “original reflector telescope”—that instrument doesn’t survive—rather it is a reflector by Isaac Newton (1642-1726/1727) & John Wickens 1671–1672 (aka “Isaac Newton’s third telescope”), now in the collections of the Royal Society;
