For more than seven years, the Mi’kmaw Moons project has tied visual astronomy and Mi’kmaw storytelling together using the Two-Eyed Seeing approach, embracing both Indigenous and Western traditions in how we view the world.

Join Acadia First Nation member Cathy LeBlanc, her niece Holly and long-time RASC member Dave Chapman as they speak about the project as well as lunar cycles, stars and the Mi’kmaw stories and traditions tied to them. This event is co-hosted by RASC and SkyNews.

RASC Ottawa: Monthly Meeting

Monthly Virtual Meeting

Just a reminder of our upcoming virtual Annual General Meeting and Regular Monthly Meeting on Friday, December 3rd at 7:30 PM.  The AGM will run for approximately 30 minutes at the start of the meeting.

They are looking for observation images. Please send these images to Dave (meetingchair@ottawa.rasc.ca) and Chris (chris@teron.ca) by end-of-day Monday, November 29th for inclusion in the slides.

NOTE:  To allow more people to share, and keep the meeting from going on too long, they are now limiting observation reports to a maximum of 5 slides per presenter at 1 minute per slide.

If you would like to share more observations/content please contact Dave (meetingchair@ottawa.rasc.ca) so that he can schedule you for a specific time at an upcoming meeting.

On Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 7:30 pm PST (10:30 pm EST), we will be holding our Annual General Meeting virtually. The meeting will be followed by a brief lecture on a topic still to be determined. 

The Zoom link for this meeting will be emailed out a few days prior.
